About Luke

Luke Imbusch is an American composer, producer, and musician based in Los Angeles. He is the drummer and founding member of Platinum-certified indie rock band The Rare Occasions, and his music has been featured in over 50 film and television scores across a wide range of genres and styles.

Driven by a passion for collaborative storytelling, Luke draws from a diverse musical background spanning jazz, musical theater, and classical minimalism to craft a unique sonic palette for each of his projects. His work in children’s animation includes Disney’s Emmy-winning series Big City Greens, Warner Bros’ Batman: Soul of the Dragon, and the Lucasfilm web series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. He has also composed music for AMC’s cult horror anthology Creepshow, ABC’s romantic drama The Baker and the Beauty, and National Geographic’s reality series Breaking Bobby Bones.

Luke’s experience as a touring musician, arranger, and music director has shaped his versatility and musicality, both on stage and in the studio. His credits include the North American arena tour of Jurassic World Live, the prestigious Horatio Alger Awards, and multiple attractions at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. He received an HMMA nomination for his work on the immersive multi-sensory exhibition Rays of Light. With his band, he has released several self-produced albums and toured internationally following the viral success of their song “Notion” in 2021.

Luke began studying classical guitar at age 6 and percussion at age 10. He grew up in Rhode Island making experimental short films with friends and performing in bands throughout the Northeast. He began composing in high school, blending cinematic orchestration with contemporary hybrid sounds, textures, and rhythms, and went on to earn a degree in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
